..namely Man O War Bay and a field of late blooming November Poppys. The latter was taken on a bleak and windswept hill top between Blandford Forum and Shaftsbury late on Friday afternoon. It was cold and the light was extremely poor, with just gloomy greyness pervading the landscape. The symbolic nature of Poppies strangely blooming around the time of year when we pay our respects to those that have died needfully or needlessly for our country struck me very strongly, especially as the current struggles in Afghanistand are claiming so many British lives.

Man O War Bay, just west of Durdle Door was bathed in golden sunshine however, and provided a perfect foil for the previous days oppressive mood. We sat in the sun and soaked up the warm rays and absorbed the fresh salty air.
