Dawn, Daytime & Dusk
26th October 2009
6.45a.m Friday morning saw me at Kimmeridge Bay, with the vague hope of an interesting sunrise. The weather reports looked good but as always that doesn't mean much as the conditions change so quickly along the coast.
However, on this occasion i was in luck. After a treacherous but fun stint of rock hopping over slippery rocks in the dark with just a headtorch to light the way, i waited for the sun to rise behind Hen Cliff across the bay to the west.
After what looked like a dissappointing gradual lightening of the sky, i was treated to incredible golden light washing over the dark and intricately patterned sea bed that was exposed at low tide. It's moments like this that make dragging yourself out of a warm bed so early so worthwhile.

Saturday started miserabley. It was only during the second half of the day that the sun made an appearance and i headed to Anvil Point, just west of Durlston Castle. A good swell and gusting wind drove huge waves up onto the rocks here as the sun went down. Managed to fill in another blank space of the coastal guide.

Sunday was a beautiful day and Arne Nature Reserve on the shores of Poole Harbour provided a great place for a walk in the sunshine, despite the numerous people. Golden light fell through the leaf shedding trees and the Sika Deer were out on the Saltmarsh, feeding peacefully with the occasional dispute as their Rut continues..
