Jurassic Coast Photography Competition - Overall Winner

20th March 2013
I am extremely pleased to announce that i have had been judged Overall Winner in the Jurassic Coast Award Photography Competition. One of my images had already won the 'Point In Time' category, with another being commended. It is made even more special for me as the judges were renowned wildlife photographer Ben Osbourne and one of Britain's best landscape photographers, Joe Cornish.

The image that won the 'Point In Time' category is this, entitled 'Cretaceous & Crepuscular':

It was taken at Hedbury Quarry on a cold and bleak January afternoon in 2011, from the hard to reach ledges that stick out from the cliff face just below the edge. This wasn't a planned shot at all, i was just out exploring one day along the coast, when the opportunity presented itself, albeit fleetingly!

The other is 'After The Storm', taken at Redcliff Point between Osmington and Weymouth on a typical Septembers day of bright sunshine punctuated with storm fronts that rolled in from the west:

The competition was supported by the Dorset Wildlife Trust with winning entries to be
displayed at the Fine Foundation Chesil Beach Centre from the 29th March to 19th April 2013.

Dorset Countryside will host an exhibition of the winning images in the Fine Foundation Gallery at Durlston Castle from the 14th to 20th May 2013, 11am to 4pm.

Lulworth Heritage Coast Centre will also host the exhibition in June 2013

Might see you there!
