2011 - Grey, Grey and More Grey.

07th February 2011
It's been a truly miserable start to 2011 weather-wise here on the south coast of the UK. I think i can count on one hand with fingers to spare the amount of days we've had with good light and interesting skies. Dull, overcast clouds have been the dominating conditions, with a cold wind added in for good measure. The few decent sunrises and sunsets i have seen have been on mornings when i have had work in the office.

Still, i have some shiny new kit to play with - namely a Canon 5D2, a wonderful piece of equipment that i've just picked up after struggling to find one locally for some time. Looking forwad to some better weather and exploring some new locations with my new toy, the first shots look great - the below was taken the day after getting my hands on it, at a suitably stormy and wild Kimmeridge Bay...

This was taken with a Canon 17-40mm f/4L, at f/16 and 0.3 of a second long exposure, using a ND.6 hard edged graduating filter, tripod and remote shutter release. It was very windy here, but i was pleased with the over all result.
